Notary Public

Notary Public

As a notary public and holder of public office, Dr. Jan-F. Hellmann provides a government service. Notarial services are an independent arm of the administration of justice. In this function, Dr. Hellmann does not represent the interests of one party, but develops a legally correct, risk-free and balanced solution in the interest of all parties involved.

For certain legal transactions, the legislature has stipulated that these must be notarized in order to be effective or that the signatures of those involved must be authenticated. These are legal transactions of particular importance for the parties involved, for instance:

  • Real estate sale
  • Real estate transactions
  • Last will and inheritance contracts
  • Declarations of division
  • Mortgages and land debt
  • Prenuptial Agreements
  • Founding of corporations (GmbH, UG, AG etc.)
  • Amendments to the articles of association of corporations or assignments of company shares.

Fees

The fees for notarial services are set by law and are based on the Court and Notary Costs Act (GNotKG) for every German notary. A deviation from this is not permitted. The amount of the fee depends on the so-called business value.

Examples of calculations can be found on the website of the Federal Chamber of Notaries Bundesnotarkammer.
